"That's Fuckin' Teamwork!"

The title of this post is a line of a song that has been playing in my head for over a week.

It was one of the first I purchased for my new iPod. Yes, that's right. I've joined the earphone revolution (thanks Wen!). Today when I rode the Metro downtown I was plugged in like nine-tenths of my fellow commuters.

The song features a bright red box next to the title: EXPLICIT. I already knew that, but thanks Tipper & Company. Those labels are, I suppose, helpful for parents screening their little darlings' choices in music. It's too late for me. (Evidently too late for The Boy too. He's the one who first played this particular song within my range of hearing and later identified it for me.)

The music itself is soft and melodious, light rock, almost folky. The lyrics, while quite explicit, amuse while making a point. Well. Making a point may be stretching it a bit. Still, the tune is so damned catchy it's been trapped in my head for over a week!

The band is Tenacious D. I like Tenacious D. There. I said it. I'm mildly ashamed yet I don't know why. I'll get over it.

So. Can you readers identify the song from the post title? Am I the only one here who enjoys an occasional profanity-laden tune with style echoing through her head?

I have been wanting to make a playlist of songs with the word fuck in the lyrics. Perhaps it is time, though in reality it will have to wait til after vacation and then til I remember it again.

Rock on!

nope no clue about that particular song....but I know my nephews have surprised me with a song or two that initially I lumped in with "their" kind of music...lol...and ended up loving them!!

I didn't expect to be the first to identify it but I'm happy that I am. It's from Fuck Her Gently. And I know because it's on my playlist too.

I'd hazard a guess that most of the folks with whom we went to the beach could answer accurately... not only because you played it for them, but because you sang that particular line at least fifteen times on the day of departure. ;p

I always have a hard time deciding between Fuck her Gently, and Wonderboy myself....

I have not heard of this Fuck Her Gently.
but I like the title...so I may need to look it up.

I like Tenacious D, but I haven't heard that particular song.

I think my favorite one that I have heard is Wonderboy.

I have no idea who that group is but I do love finding every and any excuse to say "fuck" out loud in public...

One of my all time favorites is:

Battleflag
by: Low Fidelity All Stars

Its been played on several movie soundtracks as well as on the episode of ER where Lucy and Dr Carter get wacked... makes me want to dig my white CFM boots out of the landfill and dance...

Because I haven't heard it and therefore don't have the correct melody, and because it has the same number of syllables, I'm hearing it as sung to the tune of "That's en-ter-tainnnn-ment!"

I guess that answers your last question, huh?

Not only am I clueless about the title, I've never heard of Tenacious D, Fuck Her Gently, or anything y'all have mentioned. I have a sneaking suspicion I'm not likely to hear them on my easy listening or country stations.

Ohmy, ohmy, ohmy. When I think of Tenacious D, I don't think of you. :) But I'm glad that you've made a new musical discovery!

...Poor Boy.

Saying hello, and hooting with laughter at the same time (is it possible to do both of those at once?)

I've been reading here a little while (found you via Closer to Fine) and I really enjoy your blog.

I had to go find this song of which you speak. Then I found a video. Hence the laughter. Much, much laughter!

Take care,

Cate

Greaaat. Now you've got me looking up Tenacious D. I didn't find that song, but I found one called "Classico". The snippet that Wal-Mart lets you listen to was a hoot. "The Government Totally Sucks" and "Dude, I Totally Miss You" are totally too much "totally" for me, though.

I haven't heard any Tenacious D, but I think Jack Black is funny, so I'd probably like the music alright...

I had an experience with music like that--there's a song at the very end of the credit-run in "Children of Men" called "Running the World" that I fell for because of the surprising profanity-licious chorus, with a catchy tune (in a dirge-like way?) and a definite political message...

Most importantly, though, if I am to complete my post, the word verification I have to type is "uggebup." Yep, that's right. Uggebup.

Jack Black is so incredibly fucking cute. I think he's this generation's John Belushi.

And yes, I saw the movie.

How incredibly lame... I've never heard that, or any other Tenacious D. song.

Definitely not. I love expressive music. I don't go out looking for songs that are that in your face, but if one happens to catch my ear, I do tend to enjoy the freedom of it. Not familiar with Tenascious D though. Should I be?

now I MUST listen. It's imperative!

Stopping by (late) to say happy new year.

i was given a compilation cd with this song smack in the middle of the playlist about two months ago. it comes right after 'breathe me' by sia, and right before pink's 'who knew.' i laughed so hard i nearly peed my pants. so glad you've found the name!
