I'm a Political News Junkie

It's an especially odious pastime for a resident of the DC area during the run-up to yet another contentious Presidential election.

We traveled a bit this October. I managed to avoid news on those amazing excursions, but then eagerly and hungrily re-immersed myself upon returning home. It's a hard habit to break.

Politicians are spending large amounts for TV commercials in this area. I hate them all. Sports broadcasts are heavily peppered and, frankly, they intrude on my enjoyment of the games. How rude. Yet I'm not-so-secretly excited that Virginia is leaning blue. Could it be?

My chest is heavy with anticipation. Not-news-junkie friends of mine feel it too. That's the sense I get anyway. One discusses politics with delicacy in my world. But oh, it's in the air.

I just hope we get it right this time.

I know exactly what you mean. It looks like Colorado may be moving ever so slightly to the blue and that thrills me to no end. I am cautiously optimistic, but it's growing every day!

North Carolina is leaning that way, too. And I'm doing my damndest to topple it completely.

I'm equal parts addicted to and repulsed by the political news. After two years of total immersion, I'm not sure who I'm going to be or how I might act come November 5th.

Or, wait. Make that November 6th.

November 5th I'll be hungover. Either way. ;-)

I'm afraid to get too excited, yet I find myself checking the Retuer's and CNN websites a bazillion times a day.

As a Virginia resident, I feel it too...and am both eager and a little nervous for Tuesday. GO BLUE, Virginia, GO BLUE!

Me. Here. Right now. said...

I hope the outcome met with your satisfaction. I am hopeful that we are beginning a journey we will always remember and treasure being part of.

We should try to fight Proposition 8 which takes away rights already granted.

I am not affiliated with either. I am just trying to make a difference. Thanks.

I am glad we now live in a blue Ohio. Maybe now we don't have to move to Canada.

I put a video on my blog today and I thought about you. Keith Olbermann gives one passionate speech on his show. You must see it. Bless him.

First the bad news.

1. Three major states voted democratically to ban gay marriages.

2. Blacks voted in huge numbers FOR Obama and AGAINST gay marriage.

Now the good news. Oh my, I guess there isn't any good news...
