Things One Just Shouldn't Do

Dear Lady (and I use that term loosely) ,

While riding the subway, it is never socially acceptable to (a) squeeze and pick the pimples on your upper arms until they bleed and leave bright pink welts on your pale skin, or (b) repeatedly plunge your finger knuckle-deep into the depths of your nasal passages then closely scruntinize whatever it was you discovered therein.

It's especially bad form when sitting next to your boyfriend. Although he didn't seem to mind. Y'all were obviously meant for each other. But please, leave the rest of us out of it next time.

Signed,
Nauseated woman in the seat facing yours

.

Thank you so much for drawing me out of my hunger and self-obsessed mood this morning to gasp in horror! : )

Ewwww!

Reminds me of what my mom saw last week. She saw a woman with a huge, chubby belly -- who lifted her shirt in the town square to clean her glasses. She just pulled up her shirt and used it to clean the glasses. She exposed the big, chubby belly without fear and from what I heard -- it was not PRETTY.

Two weeks ago while out at a nice restaurant, my mom and I saw a woman use the table cloth to clean her glasses.

I thought that stuff only happened in Ruralville, where the hicks live ;)

Eyes-

People who live in a rural area do not necessarily have bad habits or do gross things. I know many "hicks" (as you say) that have manners, couth and cleanliness. I’m not going to judge, but I bet there are people in urban settings that behave as “hicks” do in your mind. I’m not saying that one group of people is superior to the other, but remember stereotypes are not mature or nice. As far as the gal with the large stomach. How would she feel if she saw someone completely opposite of her who wears clothing that always shows her belly? She probably finds it equally not “pretty”. No wonder there is so much hate in our nation. People are not accepted and it is full of stereotypes and judgmental people. Thanks.

Ooh, ooh, can I play? How do you feel about a toddler idly sucking on a chicken leg while he stumbles about the train like a blind ferret and grasps at passengers' clothes with his greasy fingers?

Actually, Scout, yeah. I have techniques and products with which to remove greasy handprints from my clothing. Would that I had a similar strategy for removing the image of incessant nose-picking from my mind!

to add to the "carefully scrutinizing the "treasure" part.....rolling it to make a small ball of yuk, and sniffing it, and then eating it, yum. i knew a woman who used toothpicks for her ears, ate the contents, gross, huh? thanks for the laugh. um, and just for the record, that was a city dweller on both counts, it isn't all about hicksville *lol*
