- Two slices of fresh oatmeal bread carefully arranged so that the edges will match when sandwiched.
- A thick layer of mayonnaise spread evenly across both slices.
- Bright leaves of crispy iceberg lettuce.
- Vine-ripened tomatoes purchased at a roadside stand in rural Virginia, sliced semi-thick with a very sharp knife.
- Salt and pepper generously sprinkled on said tomato slices.
- Six pieces of pepper bacon cooked just right, not too limp, not too crispy.
Put it together and what do you get?
A sammich to die for.
I should have taken a picture.
It was a work of art.

oooooh, that makes me hungry!!!
We want a picture!
No cheese?
Good Lord that sounds so wonderful!
Yummy!And for dessert?
I took the short cut and went to Sonic for a BLT w/ cheese....
I got home to find they had given me a BC with no T or L or mayo for that matter...
reading your description I shall surely die of sandwich envy...a photo would have sent me over the edge.
May I suggest adding fresh basil to your mayo!?! It adds a phenomenal freshness along with the yummy tomatoes.
Take my word for it. Y'all really don't want a picture of it in its current form.
Who in their right mind would spoil a perfect BLT with cheese? Sacrilege!
After a sandwich like that, dessert is not required.
I do like the idea of fresh basil, however. I'm gonna have to try that. :)
Are you intimating that I am *not* in my right mind?
maxine... only if you think cheese belongs on my perfect BLT. :)
Basil, tomato, and goat cheese sammich with olive oil on rosemary-infused semolina toast.
Oh yes, I DID just say that. And now I'm' hungry.
Okay, I'm drooling.
One of my favorite semi's as the Austrian say is Kalamata olive paste (k.olives, thyme, garlic, anchoivy, olive oil) with fresh mozzarella grilled on a panini grill with olive oil. Whoa.
Or, fresh mozz with fresh basil and a garden fresh tomato -- paninied with olive oil. Or better yet -- add homemade basil pesto.
I'll take any of these :)
Now I'm hunnery!
Mmmm, bacon...
Ya'll can keep your cheese and your panini. The only thing that could possibly improve that there sammich is a nice thick slice of avocado!
Toast the bread and it will be perfect...
Good variations, substitute sprouts for the lettuce -- or slices of green pepper for the lettuce.. but I'm with those who think cheese is a bad idea.
I'm SOOOO jealous of your ripe tomatoes -- they aren't available here in the frozen north for a while yet.
